Our summer garden party in the walled garden of Clippesby Hall especially attracts holiday visitors who enjoy playing some of the traditional country games, buying bric-a-brac and partaking of tea and cakes.
Music in the Garden
This is held in Pamela Minett's garden in Stokesby. People bring their own picnics and listen to the Stokesby Strummers. This is always a very friendly, relaxed evening with normally beautiful weather!
Being a country parish this was always an important time, with special church decorations and we sing the well-loved harvest hymns.
This is usually an exhibition in the church, with a nostalgic look back on aspects of the past. In 2013 we featured fashions; previously we have shown old toys, games, wedding dresses, teddy bears, the constitutional monarchy, and more...
This event spreads over the whole weekend and has a talk or slide show in the evening.
This is held in Fleggburgh Village Hall. The whole team comes togther to run stalls, with games, a book stall, Christmas wreaths, and cakes. We can stay for lunch and consume home-made soups, "bacon butties" and delicious cake.
Carols by Candlelight
This popular event is a beautiful celebration of carols sung by the Clippesby Christmas Choir and interspersed with traditional readings. The church is lovingly decorated and lit by candles and the warm rosy glow from our ceiling heaters. The audience participates (musically) and afterwards the warm rosy glow spreads further as hot mulled wine is served along with home-made mince pies. Everyone stops to chat, exchange Christmas cards, and have a good seasonal "mardle".
